2024 Honda Civic Driving down Street

Sedans and hatchbacks are still going strong despite constantly increasing competition. The legendary Honda Civic is clear proof of that, as it's still popular with the public even after over 50 years since it was first launched. As part of its 11th generation, the 2024 Honda Civic is available both as a sedan and a hatchback and manages to innovate while staying true to what made the Civic great in the first place. Keep reading to learn more about its available trim levels, so you can decide which is more suitable for you.

2024 Honda Civic Trim Level Guide

The 2024 Honda Civic Sedan is available in five different trims: LX, Sport, EX, Touring, and Si. The hatchback version has a similar trim lineup. Its first four trims are LX, Sport, EX-L, and Sport Touring. The sedan's top Si trim is replaced by a performance-oriented Type R trim, as the top option for the 2024 Civic hatchback. These are the main perks and features for each trim:

LX Trim

Despite being the 2024 Honda Civic's base trim for both the sedan and hatchback versions, it comes with enough features to satisfy many drivers. It's equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that can produce up to 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque. This pushes it to a speed of 60 miles per hour from a standstill in 7.9 seconds, a decent time for a family-oriented vehicle. It's paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission that makes driving easier and smoother.

Some of the features that come with the standard trim include 16-inch steel wheels, push-button ignition, LED headlights, automatic climate control, a four-speaker sound system, and a partially digital instrument panel. It also comes with a shart seven-inch touch screen interface that's placed high on the dashboard, allowing you to glance at it while still paying full attention to the road ahead. Smartphone connectivity is also easy, through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

Safety is high on the list of priorities for many sedan and hatchback drivers, so the 2024 Civic comes with many standard safety features designed to help the driver notice any potential road incidents in due time. Some of the most useful are:

  • Forward collision warning with automatic braking: It warns the driver if its sensors detect an imminent frontal collision with an object or vehicle. It may also hit the brakes to limit the impact if the driver doesn't react in due time.
  • Adaptive cruise control: It keeps a steady speed while driving on the highway. You can also set it to keep a constant distance from the vehicle in front of the Civic, and the system will automatically adjust speed to maintain that distance throughout your journey.
  • Lane-keeping assistance: It senses if the Civic begins to drift out of its original lane without the turn signal being activated and then gently steers it back.
  • Automatic High Beams: They use a forward-facing camera to detect incoming traffic from the opposite direction and turn off your high beams to avoid impairing the other drivers' vision.
  • Traffic sign recognition: Uses a camera to detect road signs and then displays them on your digital instrument panel.

Sport Trim

This next trim brings some minor upgrades to the standard version. Hatchback versions now have a manual transmission option. Other significant chances are the larger 18-inch alloy wheels, the option of turning on the ignition remotely via your key fob, an elegant leather-wrapped steering wheel, an upgraded eight-speaker audio system, and keyless ignition and entry.

EX and EX-L Trims

The sedan's EX trim is similar to the hatchback's EX-L trim. They come with an upgraded powertrain, consisting of a 1-5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission. This provides a power output of 180 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. The acceleration time drops by half a second compared to the previous powertrain, with the Civic only needing 7.4 seconds to get from zero to 60 miles per hour.

This trim also comes with many other new or improved features. Some of them are the 17-inch alloy wheels, 60/40-split folding rear seat with integrated armrest, heated front seats and side mirrors, and a dual-zone automatic climate control system. The hatchback version's EX-L trim also comes with a power-adjustable driver's seat and leather upholstery. There's also a safety upgrade, consisting of a blind-spot warning system that issues an alert if another vehicle enters the Civic's blind spot.

Touring and Sport Touring Trims

This trim adds more luxury, convenience, and safety features to both the hatchback and sedan versions. They include a larger nine-inch touch screen interface, automatic wipers, wireless smartphone connectivity, an integrated navigation system, a premium Bose sound system, and a power-adjustable driver's seat. It also adds front and rear parking sensors, as well as a rear cross-traffic warning system that alerts the driver if another vehicle is approaching from either side while reversing.

Si Trim

The sedan version's top trim upgrades the turbocharged 1.5-liter engine to provide an output of 200 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque. This reduces the 0-to-60 time to only 6.6 seconds. Other notable upgrades are the sport-tuned suspension, larger brakes, and a limited-slip front differential that improves stability.

Type R

Finally, the 2024 Civic's most powerful trim is only available for the hatchback version. It uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that can produce up to 315 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. It can reach 60 miles per hour from a standstill in an amazing time of 4.9 seconds. It also comes with features that help sustain that power, including 19-inch wheels with performance tires, Brembo sports brakes, an adaptive sport exhaust system, and sports seats.
