Trims and Pricing

The Ridgeline is offered in four different trims, including:
- Sport
- RTL
- RTL-E
- Black Edition.
The Sport trim has a starting price of around $38,800. If you step up to the RTL trim, you'll get a moonroof, leather upholstery, and several optional driver safety features. You'll also get power-adjustable seats in the front row and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Choosing the RTL-E trim gets you a heated steering wheel, premium stereo with in-bed speakers, and parking sensors. The Black Edition keeps many of the RTL-E trim's features but also offers several styling elements both inside and out in line with its name.
The 2023 Toyota Tacoma, on the other hand, is available in seven different trims:
- SR.
- SR5.
- TRD.
- Sport.
- TRD Off-Road.
- Limited.
- TRD Pro.
The Tacoma has a more basic cabin design, which means its base trim has a much lower starting price than the Honda Ridgeline. The SR trim has a starting price of about $27,250.
The TRD Sport trim adds a leather-wrapped shift knob and power-adjustable driver's seat. True to its name, the TRD Off-Road trim comes with sturdy shocks, off-road suspension, and a locking rear differential. The Limited trim brings plenty of comfort into the Tacoma's cabin, including heated front seats, leather seats, and a premium stereo. The TRD Pro combines the utility of the TRD Off-Road with the luxury of the Limited trim, with a multi-terrain driving mode and skid plates on offer.
Performance
All Honda Ridgeline trims come with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that produces 262 lb-ft of torque and 280 horsepower. This engine has an edge over Tacoma's engine, which is a 2.7-liter four-cylinder unit that generates 159 horsepower. An optional upgrade, however, is on offer with the Toyota Tacoma: a 278-horsepower V-6 that produces as much power as the Ridgeline's engine.
When it comes to gas mileage, the Honda Ridgeline achieves 24 mpg on the highway and 18 mpg on city roads. The Toyota Tacoma's fuel economy is about the same, managing 23 mpg on the highway and 20 mpg in the city with its base engine. The larger V-6 manages 24 mpg on the highway and 19 mpg in the city.
Infotainment and Safety Tech
Both the Ridgeline and Tacoma offer a wide range of entertainment features. However, the Ridgeline offers more capabilities in its base trim, including a 7-speaker stereo and an 8-inch infotainment display. The Tacoma, on the other hand, has a six-speaker stereo and a 7-inch display. Both trucks offer smartphone compatibility with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and are equipped with other connectivity options, such as USB ports and Bluetooth.
Some of the optional tech features available in the Honda Ridgeline include a satellite-linked navigation system, an eight-speaker premium stereo, and in-bed speakers. The Tacoma offers wireless device charging, a premium six-speaker stereo, and a larger 8-inch display.
In terms of safety features, there's not much difference between the Ridgeline and Tacoma. These trucks both have a great selection of standard safety features, including automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning. Both trucks also come with adaptive cruise control to help you keep a safe distance from other vehicles on the road.
If you want more safety tech, you can add parking sensors. These sensors can make maneuvering into a tight spot a breeze, especially if you're towing a load such as a trailer at the rear. Another optional safety feature is blind-spot monitoring.
Cabs
The Ridgeline's Crew Cab has a maximum seating capacity of five, with plenty of legroom in the rear row for adults to travel on longer trips. The cab also comes with full-sized rear doors, making it easy for rear-seat passengers to get in and out.
The Tacoma offers either a four-seat Access Cab or a five-seat Crew Cab. The former has half-sized rear doors with rear hinges. Its second-row seats are compact and will do just fine for short journeys. However, if you frequently travel with passengers in the second-row seats, consider opting for the Crew Cab to give them more space.
The Ridgeline's base cab includes a proximity keyless entry, automatic climate control, and cloth upholstery. The Tacoma also comes with cloth upholstery and manually adjustable front seats.
Cargo and Towing
The 2023 Tacoma comes with a higher towing capacity than the 2023 Ridgeline, with the Ridgeline managing about 5,000 pounds and the Tacoma topping out at around 6,800 pounds. However, to reach the top towing capacity of the Tacoma, you need to add a towing package and opt for the larger engine. With the base four-cylinder engine, the Toyota Tacoma can tow 3,500 pounds.
All Ridgeline trims come with a bed that's 5 feet 4 inches long. There's also a 50-inch space between the wheel wells, which is ideal for transporting sheets of drywall or plywood. The Tacoma, on the other hand, offers two bed length options: one measuring 5 feet in length and a longer one measuring 6 feet and 1 inch.
