The wait is finally over. After much anticipation, Honda has previewed the flagbearer in their electric vehicle (EV) lineup: the 2024 Prologue SUV. Here at Apple Honda of Hanover, we've been reading everything we can get our hands on to learn about this exciting new EV. And while Honda hasn't yet publicized all the details, there's still much to cover. But never fear; our Honda experts have done all the heavy lifting for you. We've compiled this convenient overview of everything you need to know (so far) about the 2024 Honda Prologue. Let's dig in.

2024 Honda Prologue: The Look

A 2024 Honda Prologue on the Showroom in Hanover, PA

To accompany their Prologue SUV announcement, Honda released a gallery of images that showcase a digital rendering of both the exterior and interior of their flagship EV. And we've got to say, this car looks incredible.

Exterior

Larger than Honda's CR-V model, it is most similar in dimensions to the midsize Honda Passport SUV. From the outside, the Prologue appears comparable to most other five-seater electric SUVs, like Volkswagen's ID.4 and Hyundai's IONIQ. Kelley Blue Book has reported a wheelbase measurement of 121.8 inches, slightly longer than the IONIQ and ID.4, and a height of 64.7 inches, comparable to the IONIQ's 63-inch and the ID. 4's 64.6-inch height.

It has sleek headlights, taillights, and a silky smooth side body to give it that futuristic vibe. In their marketing material, Honda stresses the Prologue's "neo-rugged design," and we think they've pulled it off in spades. They've equipped this EV with burly 21-inch wheels that parade shiny, futuristic-looking spokes. Honda has also redone their rear logo on the Prologue, opting for a spaced-out, digital-style font placed neatly between the taillights.

Honda also appears to have differed from other EV manufacturers in the Prologue's charging port placement. Most EVs, like Teslas, have their charging ports in the rear, similar to the location of the gas tank in an internal combustion engine vehicle. Some EVs, like Nissan's Leaf, have their ports directly in the middle of the hood. However, Honda has opted to locate their port on the front driver's side of the vehicle, between the wheel well and the rearview mirror. This should make charging a little easier, whether you pull into or back into a charging space.

Interior

The inside of the 2024 Prologue SUV looks just as impressive as the exterior. With one large screen to display digital gauges and another for infotainment, drivers should be able to easily view and scroll through a bevy of vehicle information and entertainment options. In addition, a panoramic sunroof is expected to extend above the cabin, giving plenty of illumination to your front and rear passengers. The Prologue also appears to have a push start ignition, which should be familiar to most Honda customers.

Honda boasts about the impressive 102.6 cubic feet of cabin space in their five-seater electric SUV in their promotional material. That should provide ample room for passengers and cargo, large and small. Whether you're hauling groceries, luggage, sports equipment, or packing up for a weekend getaway, there's space for it all.

2024 Honda Prologue: The Power

While Honda has kept mum on driving range specifics, we know a little about the battery thanks to reporting from Car and Driver. The Prologue will sit on a platform jointly developed between General Motors and Honda, and it's likely to possess a version of General Motors's Ultium battery pack.

This should spell good news for the Prologue's driving range. With an Ultium battery pack, a driving range of 250 to 320 miles per charge wouldn't be out of the question. And with the network of charging stations growing all over the country, this range will likely get you to most of the places you want to go.

In terms of power, we can speculate about what driving the 2024 Prologue SUV might be like. Much has been made of the partnership between Honda and General Motors. Because of this, many automotive outlets are looking to the Chevrolet Blazer specs for additional hints about the Prologue. The Chevrolet Blazer's top-level trim, the SS, offers a robust 557 horsepower and is rumored to go from zero to 60 in less than four seconds. We'll keep an eye on Honda's updates to see if the Prologue will feature equally powerful trim levels.

2024 Honda Prologue: The Options

The Prologue is expected to be sold in the United States in 2024. And while they haven't yet confirmed any details about pricing or trim options, we can make some educated guesses.

Trim Levels

We expect the 2024 Prologue electric SUV to feature Honda's traditional trim lineup: the LX, EX, EX-L, and Touring options. The LX is expected to be the base model, while the Touring should feature the Prologue's best (and priciest) upgrades. This may include upgrades to the battery pack to extend the driving range or a more advanced motor to improve horsepower. But on these questions, we have to wait and see.

Pricing

It seems clear that Honda intends for its 2024 Prologue SUV to be competitive with other compact and midsize electric SUVs currently on the market. This means they'll want to price it competitively with EVs like the Hyundai IONIQ, Volkswagen ID.4, and Ford Mustang Mach-E. Honda has also hinted that the Prologue's price should be comparable to the Passport. For these reasons, we can hazard a guess that the Honda Prologue's pricing will range between $40,000 to $50,000, right in the average range of other electric SUVs of the Prologue's size.
